Factory & sourcing

A town of three hundred workshops. One shop in front of them.

Geshan is a cluster of villages in Dongyang, Zhejiang, an inland town with no coastline and no fishing fleet. It has been drawing nylon since the 1980s and now produces roughly 70% of China's fishing line and about 55% of the world's. The factories are excellent at extrusion and braiding, and historically terrible at explaining any of it to anglers.

We exist in that gap. Not a trading company with a catalogue of everything; a line brand that buys from a short list of workshops, holds the specs ourselves, and answers the email when a spool fails.

01 / Selection

How a workshop gets on the list

Four filters, applied before price is discussed.

Filter one

Own extrusion

If the workshop buys finished yarn and only winds spools, the diameter is out of their control. We buy from workshops that draw their own mono or braid their own PE.

Filter two

Export paperwork

REACH and SVHC statements, material declarations, and a batch code we can trace back to a run. No paperwork, no order.

Filter three

Consistency, not peak

Three consecutive batches within tolerance beats one perfect sample. We test the boring middle of their production, not the hand-made sample.

Filter four

Willingness to be named

Workshops that refuse to appear on a spec sheet are usually selling someone else's seconds. Ours are named on request.

What we control

Spec, spool, copy

Line diameter and rating are specified by us; the spool, band, card and every claim on this site are ours. If the page is wrong, the fault is ours.

What we do not do

No house-brand games

We do not sell the same spool under three brand names at three prices, and we do not print a test result we have not run.

02 / The arrangement

Factory-direct, with the risk in the right place

We buy finished spools, not containers. That means we pay more per unit than an importer with a 20-foot container and a 90-day letter of credit — and it means we can change a workshop when the diameter drifts, without writing off a year of stock.
